ELECTRICITY

Electricity in Burkina Faso is 220 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. If you travel to Burkina Faso with a device that does not accept 220 Volts at 50 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter. Outlets in Burkina Faso generally accept 1 type of plug:

Two round pins. If your appliances plug has a different shape, you may need a plug adapter.

BANKING

Banking hours are from Mon-Thurs 07h30-11h30 and 15h00-16h00, Fri 07h30-11h30 and 15h30-17h00. Banks are closed over weekends.

CREDIT CARDS AND TRAVEL CASH CARDS

As far as credit cards are concerned Diners Club and Master Card have limited acceptance. Visa is more widely accepted. There are limited ATMs available. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, travellers are advised to take cash or travel cash cards in Euros or US Dollars. Banks often require proof of purchase, so all receipts should be kept as a precautionary measure. The best option is to travel with EUROS CASH.
